Better late than never, right?
Each year in January, Nike host free events for Women in London to promote health and fitness, as well as reminding people of their free weekly classes and run clubs. Not only that, but they often partner with awesome exclusive studios in the city to allow users to test them out for free!
The countdown to Nike Women’s Week (formally known as NTC week) is big, with people anxious to sign up for oversubscribed classes. This year they developed an app to allow for easy booking across the events. I registered for pretty much every Psycle and Barry’s Bootcamp class and managed to bag a spot for one of the Pscyle classes, and was given a Barry’s session by a friend who could no longer attend.
I love both of these workouts, they’re pretty much the only ones in London that I’m willing to pay for (they aren’t on Classpass) so a free session is awesome.
I loved both of the workouts, so much so that I signed up for Barry’s Hell Week and bought a pack of classes at Pscyle!
On the Wednesday night I was invited along to join the Nike Speed session at the Paddington Track. We started off with a number of ‘train to run’ exercises, before getting the chance to try sprinting with parachutes attached to us. It was a lot of fun!
We were lucky to have 3 GB Rio Olympic hopefuls training with us, Emelia Gorecka (Junior 3000m champ) Emily Diamond and Meghan Beesley (400m hurdler). These Nike sponsored athletes chatted about their Olympic goals, their training plans and previous achievements.
If you missed out on Nike Women’s Week, don’t forget that Nike offer free running, train to run, HIIT and yoga classes in store and local parks. They’re also hosting HIIT workouts at their Nike London shop each Tuesday morning for the release of the Margot & Lily episodes. I went yesterday morning and really enjoyed the session – they release the spots a week in advance at 9am. Here’s the link for next week’s event – not sure if it’s full yet or not.
