I don’t normally post a lot of ‘blogger’ tips on here as I’m not sure what percentage of my readers are also bloggers, but I recently came up with this list after chatting with some other bloggers. It’s my ideal daily activity list, however it definitely does not get achieved every day.
The idea is to grow readership, create connections with those on social media and relationships with other bloggers. Not only that, but to increase your online presence which will help your google ranking.
- Check your social media
- Check & reply to any blog comments
- Post blog onto FB, Twitter & Pinterest
- Read your fave blogs & comment
- Find a new-to-you blog on one of the facebook groups & leave a comment
- Share any great articles from the day – sign up to blogs, newsletters & websites that regularly post brilliant content
- Post blog on Stumble upon and stumble away, add other people’s content to stumble
- Add latest blog post to a Tumblr (if you have one)
- Brainstorm blog ideas
- Spend 5 mins on Pinterest- pinning your own posts, adding to your boards and pinning other great posts
You obviously don’t need to do each of these every single day, some are only relevant on days that you have a new blog post, whilst others could be done every other day (or less).
If you work in an office perhaps this is something you could do by getting in to work early or maximising your lunch break by completing a few of these activities. You could write your own list detailing the tasks that you think would most benefit your blog and social reach.
I find that keeping it in the front of my work diary helps keep me accountable, and means I’m less likely to forget them.
I’d love to hear from you- would you like to see more blog tips? If yes, what sort of questions would you like answered?
I like this Charlie. I’d definitely be up for more blogging tips 🙂 I’d be interested to know if, and how, you plan your blog posts and posting schedule? Also, I’ve never used Stumble Upon… do you rate it highly?
I do, sort of. Will get a post together for next week on this. Stumble Upon- it can be great for finding content to share, and sometimes my posts do well, other times you get nothing. Happy to do a post about this too if you like?
This is really useful. I’m trying to build my readership to support my business and my credibility. I find the process if blog writing very time consuming and want to learn more about how to reach a wider audience.
Glad you’re finding it useful, and will definitely be including some more blog tip posts!
Great tips Charlie! thank you 🙂 I’d be quite intrigued to know if you plan your posts in advance too and what kind of things you’re inspired by. Do you ever feel limited by the type of content you post because you’re a fitness/health blogger? Are there some topics you’d love to write about but don’t because they don’t fit in with the style/theme of the blog?
Great question- will def do another blog post on that 🙂 In regards to blogging about different topics- yes and no. There are some things I think about posting and don’t, but the rest of the time if there’s something I want to post, I do as it’s my blog at the end of the day! I used to do more random posts so have tried to make everything more relevant to my readers!
These are absolutely great tops. Please keep them coming!
Great tips! As a newbie blogger, I have found that building relationships is key. Just trying to keep up with social media, blog comments and engagement is a lot! Thanks for the post 🙂
No worries, thanks for reading!
The only thing I just never have stuck to is Stumble…I just can’t get in to it for some reason
It’s actually the one I struggle with most too. Trying to improve my Pinterest game, making more ‘pin’ worth images!
All great tips. I do about 75% of these things.. but I don’t do Stumble or Tumblr.. I don’t really like either of those platforms so I stay away 😉
I’ve only just started using them but I don’t find them that easy…yet!
Commenting on other blogs that you like is probably the tip I would emphasize. Of course, don’t just leave generic, “that’s great” or “yum” or what not comments, leave something with meaning, actually read the blog post… That’s important, or else you just look spammy! Blogging is meant to be a place where you make friends, and by commenting on other blogs frequently, you can generate new friendships! 🙂
I still haven’t gotten into stumble but try to do everything else on the list- it has really helped!
Glad it’s working for you!!
These are great! I know that making bloggy friends and replying to comments and commenting on other blogs makes a huge deal. It takes time, but I only do it on blog posts I really like or blogs I regularly read.
Great tips!! I don’t have Stumble or Tumblr – need to join both! -Mary x

It’s totally up to you whether you join them, try them for a while, see if you’re getting traffic from them and if you think it’s worth it!
I absolutely needed this today! Thanks so much!!!
I would love reading more blog tips! I have had a blog for about 6 months and it doesn’t seem to be taking off thought I feel like i post pretty good content – just not frequently enough. Could you write a post about how you first began to gain a large readership/sponsors etc..
Sure, happy to add those to the list Shira! Think I may make these a regular feature for a while! 🙂
Some good tips here. I know I’m guilty of not doing enough to grow my blog so it’s good to get some tips on what others are doing. I’ve never used Pinterest or managed to get into Tumblr/Stumble, but maybe I’ll take another look.
One thing I really enjoy about blogging is the chance to chat to others with similar interests and you seem to have kick-started a bit of discussion here. I’d love to see a few more posts of this type 🙂
What about link ups? It can be fun to connect bloggers together by writing on the same topic. I’ve never hosted one but have taken part in a few and it’s always been really enjoyable – a lovely way to connect with others and respond to their posts.
Will add those to my lists 🙂
