Trafalgar square christmas lights

Last night our Be:Fit run group hit the streets for the last time in 2015. I was thrilled that the girls were keen for a run just before Christmas to run off some of the glasses of Prosecco and canapés that are filling my evenings this month.

I planned a route that would involve some of London’s best Christmas lights, starting first at Trafalgar Square to see the official tree. It seems it might not have been tied very tightly this year as it was swaying around a lot, and we weren’t overly impressed with the decoration.

I had originally planned for us to run up to Carnaby Street and down Bond Street but after seeing the hoards of pedestrians on the pavements decided to avoid that, and instead run up to Jermyn Street and through one of the arcades.

We then braved the crowds on Piccadilly, enjoying the lights and displays at Fortnum and Mason and The Ritz. Fleur and I wore very suitable festive attire – love this technical run top that looks like a Christmas jumper from Red Bear Sports.

It drizzled throughout our 3 mile run with a pretty blustery wind, making it fairly unpleasant conditions however it was totally worth it. I felt a lot better after the run, and loved spending at least one night of the festive season earning some endorphins rather than overindulging!

Join us at the Be:Fit run club in January, we start back on the 12th Jan!

If I’d known you could get Christmas running shirts, obviously I would be a runner by now… x

That looked like so much fun! London looks amazing! Is it already the end of 2015? Went by way to fast!
