Fitfluence Fitness Events London

Feb 12, 2016 | Uncategorized | 4 comments

London is a little behind the states in terms of fitness and blogging events, but we’re slowly catching up. I went to an awesome Social Media for Business breakfast panel discussion with AWOL last week at the top of the Gherkin, learning a lot about social media from very successful instabloggers, businesses and brands that work with Instagrammers. Georgina and I wrote pages of notes, stuffed our faces with pancakes and came away with lots of ideas and inspiration to move forward with our own social networks.

Coincidentally, I was actually on a shoot this week with one of the founder’s of AWOL, Ben. I’ll share their next event when I hear more info!
Another event I’ve recently been to was the Fitfluence event, a Sunday morning that included three workout sessions, breakfast and a Q&A session with some inspirational fitness ladies; Em Furey, Clean Eating Alice and Annie (Mind Body Bowl). These girls have all grown huge online followings and shared their own journeys to fitness and health, as well as their experiences with social media.

I have to admit I was nursing a migraine which may or may not have been the result of a few too many drinks so I only made it for the yoga session, led by Annie. I loved her style of teaching, in a room of 50+ women, she was easy to follow and made adjustments to allow for the different levels of yogis. I found it relaxing and rejuvenating, and enough to work up a bit of an appetite for breakfast. Included in your ticket is brekkie, juices, and nibbles to refuel you between sessions as well as plenty of water (this hungover girl really appreciated the water!). This session sold out so quickly that they’re repeating the event next weekend – you can buy a ticket here!
I’m so excited to be part of another Fluent in Fitness event, this time an evening talk with Prosecco and canapés, where I’ll be chatting about turning ‘Dreams into Plans’ – how I went from an overweight student with no clear direction, to a 5 X marathoner who is currently studying to become a Registered Dietitian. Also speaking on Monday 29th is Sophie Holmes, Celia Learmonth (better known as London Fitness Guide) and Dani Watson, all awesome women with a different story to tell.
When I told Tom that I was speaking at an event, his first question was ‘don’t you hate public speaking?’ – er yes I do. I’m trying really hard to push myself out of my comfort zone and adopt the do something every day that scares you mantra. You better believe that I will have practised this to death, and have a slideshow and notes to fall back on. I’d love to see some friendly faces in the audience so if you’re free on the 29th Feb you can get a ticket here. For £30 you’ll get drinks, canapés, a goody bag and the chance to see my face go bright red as I chat about how I got to where I am today! Would love to see you there!

    Fitfluence?? Sounds like flatulence 🙂

(Sorry, I teach preschool, my day is full of poo jokes). Seriously though, it looks fun and I hope your talk goes really well! Well done on pushing yourself out of your comfort zone…
