Track Running Shorts

Aug 29, 2014 | Kit, Running | 3 comments

Track shorts have been my absolute favourite summer running staple during marathon training over the past few weeks. The lightweight fabric and built in knickers are perfect for long runs and speed work sessions. Honestly, I actually most love the fact that I don’t have to wear pants, a fact that Tom is horrified by. The only downside in most of these shorts (apart from the Lululemon pair) they don’t have pockets.

I have been pleasantly surprised to discover that there’s been no chafing, even on my 20 miler in close to 30 degree heat. Plus, they don’t get heavy with sweat/rain. Functional side panels held hitch up the shorts when sprinting- or jumping into the pool after said 20 miler. I’ll be very sad when these beauties have to be retired to the back of the cupboard until next summer (or holiday)- not sure my winter legs are suitable to be this exposed!

Proof if ever we needed it that I am not a model, and Tom is not a photographer, but you get the idea!

Ahh, I really want those Sweaty Betty shorts in the City Lights pattern you have, but can’t justify buying another pair when I have so many track shorts already….Lululemon shorts are the best with all the pockets!

I know exactly what you mean about the freedom of built in pants! I love short shorts in summer, Nike Rebel are my favourite, the wide waistband is just so comfy!

If they don’t get heavy with sweat then its the right choice of apparel for running.
