So You Think You Can Dance?

Jan 27, 2014 | Uncategorized | 2 comments

Well, no actually, I know I can’t dance. Along with an inability to hold a tune, I have at least 3 left feet and zero rhythm. However, this didn’t stop me going along to the Sweaty Betty HQ last week to test out their new ‘Get Fit for Free’ class  Ballet Bootcamp.

To be honest, I thought it would be more like the Barre workouts that I love so much. I actually went to the Goodvibes new barre class at lunch on Thursday with Charlie. It’s such a tough workout, particularly for the bum and thighs. There seem to be variations of Barre workouts popping up at all sorts of studios, including my own gym. Seriously excited to keep it as part of my weekly routine especially now that my class passes have run out at Barrecore (if only it was so expensive, I would love to continue going there regularly!).

Anyway, back to Ballet Bootcamp. It was a little bit like Barre, but with more dancey stuff. Great for those that like to dance or are good at it, and a challenge for those like me. Luckily, Zoe and I were at the back of the class so we could try to keep up with the rest of the class whilst giggling quite a lot, accidentally holding hands with the girl next to me, and generally getting the moves wrong. Oh and lusting after the instructors incredible abs. Seriously, WOW.

The class included a cardio routine (that I don’t think I ever got fully right), planks (explains the abs) and the bum/thigh pulsing moves that I love to hate at Barre classes. Although I didn’t get a real sweat on, I could certainly feel the burn. If you enjoy dance workouts then you’ll love this. If you tend to avoid anything with choreography then it might not be up your street.

Sweaty Betty shops are hosting 4 weeks of Ballet Bootcamp, starting on 5th Feb. Call your local shop to find out which nights they’re hosting the bootcamp, and have a look at www.sweatybetty.com/balletbootcamp for more info and free online classes if you can’t make it to any of the shops.

I’m hopeless at dancing too, but think I’m gonna give the class a try to see what it’s like!
