Shaded White & Pink Spare Room

After I posted this reel earlier in the week, I had quite a few questions about the bed and bedding in our spare room, and realised I’d never showed you the bedrooms after the amazing Hannah (our interior designer) worked her magic on them.

I’m going to save the now nursery for another post as the transformation is not yet complete!

Guest Bedroom

This room is next to Bertie’s bedroom and actually the one that I’ve been sleeping in for the past few months. With Tom’s job, we found it easier for him to sleep upstairs in our main bedroom on nights he was working especially when Bertie was in the bassinet next to the bed.

The Bed

The bed for this room is a Super King and is actually bigger than our King Size upstairs. I bought it in the sale at Made.com a few years ago, and it was definitely the main feature for Hannah to work off. Although our actual bed is no longer available, there are similar options to the Ottomon style that we have found so useful for storage!

Dunelm have a blush storage bed and Habitat have a great double bed option.

Choosing the Paint

We stayed very neutral with the paint, sticking to Shaded White (we had Farrow & Ball paint colours colour matched with Johnstones paint that Hannah recommended was better quality and cheaper!) We also used Shaded White in our hallway, study and Kitchen. The blinds are beige with a small white star pattern on (we had these before redecorating).

Furniture & Decor

What I loved about working with Hannah is that she used a mix of higher end pieces with IKEA staples. We kept our old IKEA bedside tables (they are really great thin ones and pretty much the only ones that fit either side of the monster bed!) Years ago I covered the tops in marble look coverings which have stood the test of time pretty well.

Perhaps my favourite thing about the room (other than the bed), was adding in some green to the colourway with a statement lamp. Ours is from Pooky, it’s sold out currently but should be available again soon. I hadn’t realised that lamps (and lighting in general) made SUCH a huge difference before working with Hannah. For those of you that aren’t local to Henley on Thames she does online/virtual consultations and does 2 Hour Consultations if you have a smaller project or just want a little help!

The Bedding

I recently changed out the bedding in this room from our gorgeous white duvet cover with pink piping to a green and pink patterned cover because Chester kept jumping on the bed and covering it with his muddy paws! I bought this set from Dunelm. Our cushions are old from Fenella Smith – alternatively Hannah suggested these velvet cushions.

Art

The prints in here are from a local artist Sarah Pye – wish we could afford the paintings!

Storage

Storage wise we have full length mirrored cupboards across the back wall that were in when we moved in. We added a large chest of drawers for my sports kit (I keep all of my clothes in this spare room!!) Whilst our one is no longer available, this one is similar. You can also find the wide style at IKEA and Wayfair.
