When Tom and I got engaged in Portugal (read the proposal story here!) I knew I wanted to get some photos of us out there to capture ‘the story’.
We’d added Algarve destination wedding to our list of possibilities so it was also a great chance to check out a local photographer. We chose Anna to photograph us in what has become one of my favourite spots in the area – the lake and beach at Quinta
I discovered it a few years ago whilst out on a 20 mile training run for Berlin and made Tom drive around the following day to establish exactly where this mysterious lake and restaurant were.
It’s also the location of our favourite Beach Bootcamps!
I’m not great at posing in front of the camera (when it’s not running in sports kit!), especially in a romantic setting, so I laughed hysterically at some of the suggestions to close my eyes, and to look lovingly into Tom’s eyes – whilst Tom took it all in his stride. I actually thought it might be a little bit of a battle to go for an engagement shoot, but he was all over it, even suggesting photos like the jumping one below…
and of course capturing the aeroplanes flying overhead!
I’m currently deep into wedding planning, with church visits, bridal appointments and catering enquiries coming out of me ears – it’s such an exciting task but I’ll be thrilled when we have a firm date set!
These pictures are great! Engagement photos can end up looking super cheesy but these are the opposite, love them!
Fantastic photos! Such a nice idea, I wish I’d had an engagement shoot now!
Lovely photos! Congrats on your engagement 🙂

I didn’t even consider having engagement photos taken. I didn’t know it was a thing, but I sort of wish I had. It’s such a nice idea to have photos like that to look back at.
I love love love these photos and think they look beautiful! 🙂 What a great idea to get images at the spot where it happened. You both look so happy love!
The pictures are stunning!
