My life is usually a little hectic but right now it feels manic. And not in a good way. In an ‘I’m only sleeping a few hours a night’ sort of way, however it’s all for great reasons, and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Here’s what has been going on….
We’re in the process of moving.
We’ve rented a lovely house in Henley on Thames and have started bringing our stuff out there, car load by car load. I’ve lived in the same flat in Chiswick for 10 years and have accrued quite a lot of crap in that time so there is a lot to pack! Luckily my Mum has been a superstar, helping pack, unload and drive in convoy to the new place.
I’ve been wedding planning.
We’ve booked the church and photographer, are in talks with marquee companies and caterers and I’ve started trying on wedding dresses. Turns out my Mum and I have slightly different tastes in style but I’m excited to find something a little different to the more traditional versions. I’ve already found one I love!!
I’ve been getting ready for Kilimanjaro.
With last minute injections, kit purchases, packing, visas etc – there’s a lot more to think about than just whether you’ll make it to the summit. I’ve also been arranging some fun guest bloggers for while I’m on my trek, and I’ll be updating on FB/Instagram whenever I find 3G on Kili (taking plenty of pics of myself after 6 days without a shower to clog up your news feeds with!)
Tom started his new job.
He’s been training in Exeter for the last 3+ weeks without a break which has been tough, but he’s finally home now! He did really well in his exams, so proud of him, and I can’t wait to fly a commercial jet with Tom as the First Officer!
I’ve been working
Now that Uni is over for the Summer I’ve been getting up to date with all of my finances (ish), invoices, assignments etc, however I’m feeling so behind with it all. I have a number of upcoming blog projects, freelance deadlines and pitches to make and it can feel a little overwhelming. For me, the hardest thing about freelancing is balancing my time, making sure I get the right amount of time actually working vs the admin side of things. Not complaining though – I love the flexibility of it!
I’ve been training (a little)
I’ve been working with Brad from BW Commando Fitness on my strength, mobility and stability! It’s been really eye opening, particularly when it comes my ankles – we’ve been working a lot on them, something I’ve never focused on before. I ran home from the gym this morning – 4 miles, and felt great after a fab but intense running specific strength workout.
I’ve been baking
I’ve made the wedding cake for my friend’s wedding this weekend in Essex – it’s actually being held on an island that is only accessible by road for a couple of hours a day. If you see a BMW tearing through Essex today it’s because we are running late – I can’t imagine trying to take all the layers onto the ferry along with my dress etc!
What’s been going on in your life lately?
As always your life sounds super busy! Preparing for a house move and organising your wedding? Whilst sorting out a trip to Kilimanjaro and fitting in freelance work and training?! All super exciting stuff though! What date did you set for your wedding?
Tom looks super smart in his uniform – should he be getting married in that?! Well done in your exams too. xx
Wow you have been super busy! Make sure you find some time to rest too – having just come through a really hectic and stressful few months, I’ve learned how important that is!
I love this post so much! I can’t wait to see your new flat and am so thrilled for Tom! Which routes does he have? Let’s catch up via phone or Facetime soon!

I love this sort of post – definitely fuels the nosey parker in me!
You do seem very busy – both good and bad busy, I hope you find some time to relax and get more sleep very soon. And hope you made it to the wedding on time!
Wow! What a schedule! Well done Tom – very smart. G.
Hectic is an understatement Charlie! Don’t forget some you-time to allow your body to recharge. Lovely blog post as always. ?
I didn’t realise we were in Chiswick at the same time – such a hard place to move away from! All the best with everything you have on your plate. Sounds like a really exciting period.
