Hello!
I just got back from an incredibly relaxing week in Portugal, where most days revolved around lying next to the pool. I feel like I’ve been super busy recently, so I relished the lie ins, lazy lunches and chilled out days. But I also wanted to keep active whilst I was away- I think I would go crazy if I didn’t do anything.
So on my insanely relaxing holiday, I managed to squeeze in;
A beginners swimming workout
It was actually tougher than I imagined. I’ve always thought I was an OK swimmer, apparently not. Tom laughed at me from the lilo when I surfaced after every two lengths and was like ‘I am so out of breath. I am so unfit. This is so hard.’
2 X 50M warm up- breast stroke
4 X 25M front crawl, maintaining an even stroke and breathing
4 X 50M front crawl, with 30 sec break after each one
4 X 25M front crawl, maintaining even stroke and breathing
2 X 50M cool down- breast stroke
I then had an ice-cream, it was worth it.
I had a golf lesson, and loved it. I had an awesome instructor who said I had a good follow through, although a weird back swing. We hit up the driving range again when our friends Emily and Phil came out to practice our swings, mine is erratic at best. Also had to wear one of Tom’s polo shirts as my attire wasn’t appropriate apparently!
We played a great game of doubles tennis one evening. We all worked up quite a sweat with the short sprints trying to chase the ball. I loved playing, and we were quite balanced in teams. Phil and I partnered together, and beat Emily and Tom in the best of 3 games.Took my camera but forgot to take any photos of us playing! Must have a rematch now that we’re all back in London.
Emily and I had planned to run a couple of times, but only got around to one 2.5mile run back from the driving range on our last day! My legs felt really stiff and the route that seemed flat whilst driving it, did not feel so flat whilst running it. Still it was great to get out and stretch our legs, and earn another ice-cream!
What exercise do you do on holiday? Normally I get a lot of walking in through sightseeing, although am definitely going to do some running sightseeing on my next city break!
Love the tennis/golf skirt. Both appropriate skirt-sports 🙂
In all seriousness though looks like a lovely holiday!!! Jealous of the pool time. x
Thanks, glad you approve of my skirt activities!! Loved that you noticed xx
Portugal is on my bucket list of places to visit. And it’s awesome you stayed active on vacation…not an easy task!
Sounds like you had a great time! I’ve been to Portugal twice, loved it. I have a confession to make, I’ve never exercised while on holiday. I’m not really sure why, I guess when I’m away, I’m away to relax and even though exercising does relax me, I just don’t do it for some reason.
