Chicago Marathon Training Week 4

Jul 20, 2015 | Uncategorized | 10 comments

Wait, is this week 3 or 4? It seems to be going so quickly!

Monday– 30 min weights workout at the Grand Hyatt KL gym.

gym weights

Tuesday– Banging headache so swapped my speedwork in favour of a swim & smoothie by the pool!

Wednesday– 5 X 800m on the treadmill at 6.30 pace. This just about killed me, and was the first time I’ve ever worn the emergency cord on a treadmill, such was my fear of flying off the back!

Thursday– Barre class at Barrecore

Friday– With big plans for the weekend, I knew it was crucial to get my long run done before the wedding festivities started. I combined my morning commute with my long run, running from Chiswick to London Bridge (with an extra lap of Hyde Park) to get my 12 miles in. My goal pace was 9min miles, some felt easy, some were exceptionally hard and I finished the run with a 9.16 average pace. Not ideal.

I’m finding my loss of fitness and pace so difficult to deal with, and am just hoping I can work hard enough over the next few months to regain all that I’ve lost.

12 mile run

Saturday– Spent the morning stressing over wedding cakes and the afternoon celebrating as two of my best friends got married! It was so much fun catching up with friends from school, enjoying the sunshine and dancing the night away to some classic tunes. I literally ran onto the dance floor for the Spice Girls!

CAKE

Sunday– Less than ideal journey that took 5 hours, including two road closures and a Burger King #keepingitreal

And with that, we start WEEK 5!

You’ll be surprised how quickly your fitness comes back, I started my training for Brighton this year slow and sluggish and got 5k, 10k, half and marathon PBs out of it! Good work on the cake if you made it, looks EPIC!!
