Chicago Marathon Training Week 13

Sep 13, 2015 | Uncategorized | 9 comments

Monday – Rumble class at the newly opened 1Rebel with my friend Loz before work. After work I took my favourite BarreStretch class – the ideal class after Sunday’s long run, plus I sleep really well afterwards!

Rumble class at 1Rebel

Tuesday – 4 x 1 mile repeats. 6.58, 6.59, 6.46, 6.55. I actually really enjoy mile repeats, you don’t have to run as fast as the 800m repeats but they’re over pretty quickly!

Wednesday – Barrecore Mixed class.

Thursday – Rest day

Friday – 1 mile warm up, 7 miles at 7.50 pace on the new Technogym MyRun treadmill at the Technogym headquarters in Italy. We were give the chance to test out this new snazzy bit of equipment , designed for home use, it has the largest surface area of an at-home treadmill, but is really compact in size. Instead of a screen, you use your iPad or tablet and control the treadmill using the app. You can preset your workout, which is especially useful when you’re running intervals or completing a tempo run with varying pace or inclines. Not only that, but you can use the app to track an outdoor run then translate that to a run on the treadmill! Plus you can download training plans to suit your distance, pace and ability to get you 5K, 10K, half or full marathon ready!

Saturday – BarreAsana class at Barrecore Mayfair with a friend before brunch at Nopi.

Sunday – 22 miles along the Thames tow path for my longest run in nearly a year! Average pace was 8.32 which felt pretty comfortable. I’m getting a bit bored with my long run route after 13 weeks although it’s quite nice knowing the exact distances between water shops and seeing similar faces running each weekend!

Rumble class – — that sounds like a fun way to mix up marathon training! And, BTW, I’ve never put “like” in the same sentence as mile repeats 😉

Haha I think it’s only relative as I hate Yasso 800s!!

    Hey Charlie
It’s been fun following your training. We’re doing marathons around the same time and aiming for similar times, so it’s been a bit like having an extra training partner. Best of luck in Chicago. I hope it all comes together for you but most of all I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks Laura, I’ve been following yours too! I love how different our training is but how it seems to be working for each of us (as you said in your post today!) Best of luck at Bournemouth, will be cheering you on virtually!

Speedy runner!! The concept for that treadmill is pretty great. That’s awesome that you are able to test it out.

You’re so fast! Following your blog and your progress, it seems like your training is going great (not to jinx you!) Totally hit the nail on the head about mile repeats – not as hectic as an 800 but not torturously long either 😉
