Prettly manicure and chamagne

It’s the time of year where most people’s calendars are full of Christmas parties, dinners, gatherings and celebrations, and you want to look your best. This can mean a new dress, a manicure or blow dry, or just a pre/post party massage. This year has seen the launch of a number of companies in London that offer at home pampering services, from braids and blowdrys, to mani/pedis in the comfort of your own sitting room, office or hotel room.

Prettly

I won an instagram competition for 5 friends to enjoy a manicure from Prettly with Nimble Booking, so invited a group of girls round last night for fizz, party food and manicures. It was such a fun way to spend a Monday evening catching up, whilst having our nails adorned in festive colours ahead of the party season. My friends and I thought that Louise, our manicurist did a fantastic job, she was friendly and professional – plus she brought all her own kit so no need to provide your own towels, nail varnish or remover. Prettly also offer makeup sessions, as well as hair styling services. A manicure costs £25, whilst an express hair and makeup treatment costs £45 – the perfect pre party or wedding pamper.

City Swish

Perhaps the most comprehensive at-home treatment company, City Swish offer massages, waxing, facials, mani/pedis, tanning and blow drys across London. I’ve been lucky enough to try out both their massage and blow dry services, taking advantage before my friend’s wedding last weekend. I wanted a plait that would last for at least two days, and was really pleased with the side plait that my stylist Lauren gave me (although you can’t really see it in this photo).

The massage was amazing. My masseur, Pedro, turned up with his table, towels, music and eucalyptus extract to ensure that I felt like I was in a salon rather than my sitting room. I completely relaxed and zoned out during the hour long massage, which focused on releasing tension from my back and shoulders. At £65, an hour long massage at home costs a similar amount (if not less) than you’d expect to pay in a salon, plus they also offer sports massages for £70 – Pedro was actually also a trained physio so I’ll be booking him regularly during my half marathon training in the New Year! They are offering 10% off for new sign ups

Urban Massage

Offering massages in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh, Urban massage offer a range of different massage treatments in the comfort of your own home. From pregnancy, sports, Thai options, plus reflexology there is something to suit everyone. You do have to provide your own towels (which I didn’t love as mine definitely aren’t as soft as salon towels) and music if you want it. Unfortunately my treatment wasn’t the most relaxing due to the constant ringing of my masseur’s phone plus the sounds of the dishwasher in my kitchen – the only downside to enjoying a treatment at home!

was it weird at all to have strangers in your house in this way? I always think about it but then i’m like “do i need to clean up a ton?” etc etc

Nice idea, very relaxing to have it done at home or to treat someone else as a gift.

This looks like so much fun! I remember there being a lot of businesses like this when I lived in NYC. I always wanted to try it!
